Reptiles by M. C. Escher.
Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972), born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, was a multidisciplinary artist whose legacy in the graphics and mathematical fine arts is known all around the world. Better known as M.C. Escher, his first pieces (1920-1925), were mostly wood and linoleum cuts about people and animals, meant to be posters or illustrations. Later on, in life, his portraits, constructions, and landscapes became even more realistic. Similar to Salvador Dali’s paintings, where the dreams and materialization of time come to life, Escher’s art opens the door to other dimensions and impossibilities, but with a hint of his personal style of engravings. Using repetition and rhythm of forms and objects, between 1940 and 1960 his work evolves into exploration and observation of chaos and order in our world.
