"Auguste Rodin" by Robert Descharnes - 1st EDITION Hardcover (10-1/4" x 12") - Published in 1967 by The Viking Press - 283 pages (with hundreds of color, toned, and black & white photos of Rodin's life and his work printed on heavy stock) - Good-very good condition.  Published to mark the 50th anniversary of the sculptor's death, this book tells his full life story and covers all phases of Rodin’s work including assessing his importance as an artist, with numerous tipped-in plates, including color photographs and facsimile letters revealing the great power and beauty of his art. This massive volume also includes little-known paintings, drawings, and etchings by Rodin.  Hundreds of color, toned, and black & white photos commemorate his life and his works.  The color and toned photos are all tipped-in, which means they were not part of the printing process.  They were printed separately and tipped in (partially glued in and can be lifted from the page) after the book was printed.  This is a common practice for fine art books such as this. No collection of Rodin items is complete without this book.
